Sprint plans to launch 4G service to 120 million people next year and end the buildout in 2013 by covering 250 million.

Sprint’s network sharing deal with LightSquared, however, depends on federal regulators approval.

LightSquared is waiting for government permission to offer wholesale 4G service over airwaves reserved for satellites.

The move to LTE will put the company on an even playing field with rival carriers AT&T and Verizon.

Which have deployed their own next-generation networks using the same technology.

Verizon’s 4G network is the largest, covering about half the U.S.Government officials are concerned that LightSquared’s satellite service could interfere with GPS systems.

A delay in that ruling could potentially lead to problems for Sprint’s 4G rollout.

Sprint’s announcement could also mean trouble for Clearwire.

Which furnishes Sprint with WiMax technology. Sprint’s partnership with Clearwire originally gave the company an advantage over AT&T and Verizon.

But as new technology developed to replace WiMax 4G, the partnership lost its edge.

The 4G announcement arrived on the same day that Sprint took its first iPhone orders, highlighting the fact that the carrier is doing all it can to ensure a strong showing against its rivals for the coming year.

Clearwire reportedly plans to switch to LTE, but has not secured funding. Sprint won’t sell WiMax devices after 2012.

But a company spokesman said they will continue to support them.

The ‘early adopters’ at MyDivert.com are certainly starting to see the rewards as sales are predicted to double within 4 months.

The team at MyDivert, which first doubled its customer base in the last 6 months, keeps its customers close to its business partners, family, and friends via the use of a very important set of digits, a voip phone number (also called DID or DDI). Combined with VoIP services, an incoming DID number enables mydivert.com users to maintain a local telephone presence in countries around the world where they may have no physical telephone line.

“We offer DID virtual numbers now in over 65 countries, with a complete numbering range available in some. We have seen the business develop dramatically over the last 18 months and have had to adapt our range of services accordingly. VoIP customers are far more mature now and generally know what they are looking for. The entire team has worked hard to develop combined services that suit a range of user requirements: DID trunks, SIP Trunking for PBX, call termination for single users and multi-channel trunks, and SIP extensions for endpoint users,” says CEO Joel Driver.

Mydivert.com has built their platform around Asterisk, Kamailio, and Linux Open Source Servers.

Josh Stephens, the Asterisk guru at mydivert explained, “We use Asterisk for billing, voicemail and IVR functions, and outbound calls. Kamailio is used for SIP presence due to its scalability. The mapping servers are Asterisk with realtime mysql control.”

*Kamailio, formerly openSER, is an open source SIP server that can handle thousands of call setups per second. Its features include ENUM, least cost routing, load balancing, and can be used to build large VoIP servicing platforms or to scale up SIP-to-PSTN gateways, PBX systems or media servers like Asterisk™, FreeSWITCH™ or SEMS.

**Asterisk is a free, open source software that turns an ordinary computer into a feature-rich voice communications server. Asterisk can be used as a PBX, a gateway, in a call center, in the public network, and other ways being invented as this article is composed and read. More information is available at http://www.asterisk.org.

A huge round of applause from the Techistan community of readers and contributors worldwide for the team at MyDivert.com.

DIDX Launches DID/DDI Channel on TMCnet
TMCnet News
(Norwalk, CT – August 7, 2008) Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC (News – Alert)) today announced that the DID/DDI channel, sponsored by Super Technologies, Inc., provider of DIDX, has been launched as the newest addition to the TMCnet channel program. These channels promote the importance of Direct Inward Dialing (also known as DID or DDI), how they are used with customers’ PBX (News – Alert) systems, and how telcos allocate these numbers to meet the needs of billions of global end-users.

DIDX is a registered and patented service of Super Technologies, Inc. In 2005, immediately following the company’s exponentially increased number of international services, Super Technologies, Inc. saw the need for an electronic platform for international provision and exchange of DID numbers. There was none. Thus, DIDX was created.

The channels can be found at: http://www.tmcnet.com/channels/did-ddi/

TMCnet’s channels are micro-targeted information portals where readers can find topic-specific news, articles, feature stories and product reviews. TMCnet has over 70 channels covering important topics in the IP Communications, VoIP, IP Telephony, CRM, Call Center and Information Technology industries.

“DIDX is pleased to join forces with TMC, the leader of communications and technology media,” said Rehan Ahmed, resident of Super Technologies, Inc., provider of DIDX. “Taking advantage of TMCnet’s credibility and expertise in driving traffic will reinforce our branding and distinguish DIDX position as a leading provider of DIDs and DDI phone numbers for wholesale buy and/or sell.”

DIDX creates a huge and new vertical market for CLEC, ILEC and local regional telecoms to add new revenue from their pool of allocated DID numbers. Normally, these are IDLE and too costly to sell. DIDX makes them available to be sold anywhere on the planet, with the blessing of the Internet, creating much deserved revenue and making the world every ITSPs market.

“TMCnet welcomes DIDX ‘s channel to our program,” said Dave Rodriguez (News – Alert), vice president of Publications and Conferences at TMC. “They are a well-respected leader in the DID and DDI market that shares our vision in the advancement of new technologies. Our channel program is a community-building vehicle assisting our partners in building their brand, while contributing to the vast array of valuable content which drives traffic to TMCnet, the most-visited communications and technology Web site in the world.”

TMCnet the leading Web site for communications and technology professionals. TMCnet achieved a record breaking 3 million visitors and 30 million page views in July 2007 according to Webtrends.

For information on TMCnet’s channels program, please contact Tim Goins at (203) 852-6800, ext. 229 or e-mail: tgoins@tmcnet.com
