One (in testing) is a recommendation tab for pages. With this feature, the user can write and read recommendations on Pages, similar to a feature launched on the desktop version not too long ago.

Facebook has over 800 million users, so they say. 300 million of them are using Facebook on mobile devices, and that number will only continue to grow, as long as Facebook remains the kind of social networks.

The other feature is the addition of filters on mobile page walls. When a user visits a page, they can switch between all posts and page posts (all meaning including those from users). This has been a feature of the regular desktop version fo the site for a long time, but it hasn’t been an option on mobile.

People familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.

The filing reportedly could occur as early as this year.

With shares making their debut on the market between April and June 2012.

The company is considering a $10 billion offering that would value the social network at more than $100 billion.

But Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has not made any final decisions regarding the size and date of the IPO, the Journal reports.

Facebook representatives declined to comment on the report.

Speculation about a Facebook IPO began in 2009 when it modified its stock structure to make a public filing easier.

However, not long after rumors began circulating that the company would go public this year, a Bloomberg report claimed Facebook wasn’t even considering the possibility of an IPO until 2012 at the earliest.

And just this month Business Insider suggested an IPO filing may hit the wires soon, possibly in January.

he social network may not have much of a choice about whether it wants to go public.

A clause in the 1934 Securities and Exchange Act requires private companies to release quarterly financial data when they have 500 or more owners a milestone Facebook was expected to pass this year.

In January, when Facebook and Goldman Sachs struck a deal to raise $500 million.

The social network said it “expected to pass 500 shareholders at some point in 2011, and therefore expects to start filing public financial reports no later than April 30, 2012.

A $100 billion valuation would make Facebook one of the most valuable tech companies.

Although far behind the tech leader Apple’s current valuation of $362 billion.

Facebook would trump tech veterans Cisco Systems’ $96 billion and Hewlett-Packard’s $52 billion.

The report comes as the tech IPO market has been experiencing a thaw of sorts.

Daily deals provider Groupon went public earlier this month and closed up 30 percent the first day (although its share price has since settled back to its IPO price).

Having a Google+ profile allows users to take advantage of new features like the People app in ICS.

The app takes users’ contacts and links them to their Google+ photos, providing a list of friends and family members and giving quick access to their status updates and posts on the social network.

Because ICS makes signing up for a Google+ profile easy, and being a member of the social network allows Android users to take advantage of new features, it’s likely the updated platform will lead to substantial growth for the site.

Google+ has grown faster than several of its competitors, even while interest in the site has faded of late.

ICS also prompts its users to sign up for a regular Google account in order to register their credit card to make purchases in the Android Market.

Past versions of Android did not ask users to make an account until they tried to buy something in the store, making it easy for them to back out of the mobile store and ignore it.

Now, new customers will likely be more inclined to sign up for an account during the set up, making all future purchases through the Android devices easier for Google to initiate.

The primary reason users give for Google+’s lack of appeal has been that their friends are not on the site, so they report having little reason to make frequent visits.

However, ICS will likely give millions of users a reason to sign up on the site, leading to more traffic and fueling further growth.

Google announced it has activated 200 million Android devices to date.

Not all of them will run ICS, but all future devices will likely run the OS and millions more are expected to receive the update, giving the company’s social network tremendous reach.

Gaining more user accounts with credit cards will increase Google’s revenues and help the company create an ecosystem of products, but ICS still provides the biggest boost to Google+.

The Springfield School Board is expected Monday to start discussing whether to allow teachers and students to connect on social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, and possible other changes in social network policy.

The plan won’t be made public until after the board and organizations representing teachers and principals have weighed in on it, Springfield School District’s spokesman.

There is no indication whether the district will consider allowing social media use inside actual schools.

“We know that we want the district and maybe even the schools … to use social media for public engagement,”

The hard part is at the teacher-student level, what to allow or whether to allow any at all.

Using the micro-blogging site Twitter as a gauge of global sentiment, US social scientists studied 509 million tweets from 2.4 million users in 84 countries between February 2008 and January 2010, according to research reported in the journal Science.

Twitter, the five-year-old site that lets users communicate 140-character posts, offers an unprecedented chance to study human behaviour and social networks, scientists from Cornell University said.

Online expert Peter Griffin told TV ONE’s Breakfast scientists feed tweets through word monitoring software developed at the University of Auckland and they can tell from language how people are feeling.

Griffin said in the morning people feel good but as they day goes on they get more morose and stressed out and rebound again at midnight.

But before you blame your boss the changes are related to sleeping patterns and how people feel physically.

“You’d expect that if we start feeling a bit more morose during the day it may be because we are at work, but they’ve found the same thing happens on weekends,” Griffin said.

“So the scientists think it has something to do with our circadian rhythms which controls our internal body clock, our temperature, our hormones that type of thing.”

Bad news, even if it happens to a complete stranger, brings Twitter users down.

Those brief posts get down to the nitty-gritty, showing that Twitter users prefer bacon to sausage and Cheerios to Frosted Flakes, Cornell University sociologist and co-author Michael Macy said.

The change in moods was the same across the globe, he said, from India, Africa, Australia and New Zealand to Britain, Canada and the United States.

To get a picture of the global mood, the scientists searched tweets for about 1000 words that reliably indicate positive emotions “agree,” “fantastic,” “super” and negative ones, such as “afraid,” “mad,” and “panic.”

The researchers considered up to 400 tweets from each person, and excluded those with fewer than 25 tweets.

The scientists noted a recent survey of US Twitter users found they are 51% white, 24% African American and 17% Hispanic. People with college and advanced degrees and with higher household incomes show up in higher numbers.

The researchers said this still makes their study more representative than earlier ones on college students.

In another study cited in Science, researchers at the University of Vermont created a timeline to track the last year in tweets, ending in early September 2011, showing the world’s average happiness slid from last October.

Facebook rolled out a Subscribe button. It allows a user to follow anybody’s public updates, regardless of whether they’re Facebook friends. This one-way subscription model is like following somebody on Twitter or adding somebody to a Google+ Circle.

While some users are worried about the privacy implications of the the opt-in feature, many are using it to subscribe to other users, particularly Mark Zuckerberg. In fact, the Facebook CEO is amassing subscribers at a breakneck pace.

Zuckerberg has acquired more than 5 million subscribers, and that number is rising by the minute. The count is rising so quickly that the site can’t even properly display his total subscriber count (check out the screenshot to see what we mean).

There’s a caveat to this, though. Five million people didn’t suddenly decide to start subscribing to the Facebook CEO’s feed. Instead, Zuckerberg converted fans of his old Facebook Page into subscribers of his personal page.

A cached version of Zuckerberg’s fan page shows that he had 5,203,153 fans just before he made the switch. That’s around the same amount of people now subscribed to his account.

We believe that number will continue to rise as Facebook migrates the rest of Zuckerberg’s fans to his personal account and new people start subscribing to him. The social network has been converting many fan pages into subscribers in the past day and plans to launch a do-it-yourself conversion tool in the next few weeks.

Now we have to ask: Is Zuckerberg the most-followed person on Facebook? Let us know in the comments if you find anybody else who comes close to Zuck’s numbers.

Facebook last month announced other improvements aimed at letting users be more selective about who gets to see what they post at the social network.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based social network, which hasn’t officially announced the new feature, has been testing the feature with select users and may release it site-wide in the next few weeks.

Facebook plans to release a new feature, Smart Lists, which will let users automatically group friends into categories to help protect and control privacy.

Facebook has always had Friend Lists, which let users group different friends based on varying categories. However, the new Smart Lists let users custom-design their News Feeds to automatically deliver content only from the people they want to see.

The new feature may be Facebook’s response to rival Google+, which protects users privacy in “Circles” to allow users to group friends and more closely control who sees their posts.

Smart Links follows other recently released Facebook privacy controls. For example, Facebook last month moved privacy controls from a separate settings page to users’ home and profile pages, next to where they see and post items.

On the other hand, other customers may not like Facebook’s additional control over their lists of friends and co-workers, and may see Facebook’s new Smart Lists program as a type of privacy violation.

Smart Lists’ automatic grouping of users’ friends may be convenient for users who don’t like to spend a great deal of time working on their social networks’ privacy issues.

Facebook has not said when it will unveil Smart Lists to the general public. When the new feature is available, it may help the social network retain users who considered switching to Google+ to further define and protect their online relationship groups.

Users likely will be able to opt out of Smart Lists, as with other Facebook features. But Facebook users who have several lists of contacts may appreciate having more control over who sees their posts.

Now it seems both tech giants have decided to pay more attention and more cash to Washington.

For the first time, the company is spending more on lobbyists than Microsoft. Meanwhile, Facebook increased its spending from $230,000 in the first quarter to $320,000 in the second. Before this year, the highest amount the social network had reported spending on lobbyists in one quarter was $130,000.

It’s not unusual for large companies to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on lobbyists each quarter. In the most recent quarter, Sony, Tyson and Walmart paid out $490,000, $600,170 and $1,490,000 respectively. General Electric spent a whopping $6.8 million. But both Google and Facebook are on rather unusually steep spending curves.

Is it raining cats and dogs? Are you going bonkers with the free time? Well then, we have got news for you! You can get rid of that boredom with these fun activities.

Make up silly poems and act them out. You’ll need paper, pencils and a chest of old clothes. Old Halloween costumes would be awesome here! Give everyone paper and pencils. Have everyone make up silly poems. It can be about anything they choose. Ask for a volunteer, but tell them you can’t say what their job will be yet. Wait until someone volunteers and then tell them they have to stand in front of the group and use the chest of clothes to act out the silly poems. Now pick someone to read the poem as the volunteer acts out the poem. When you’re done, pick someone new and act out the other poems.

Bake cookies. Do you have a favorite cookie? Ask your Mom to help you bake them. Make sure you have all the ingredients before you begin. Oh yes, and the milk! Don’t forget the milk!

Look at photo albums of family and friends. Take out the photo albums and share memories. Find the cutest outfit you wore when you were a baby, the funniest face you ever made, the craziest hairdo you ever had. It’s a lot of fun looking back at old pictures!

Read a story. Pick out a book that everyone will enjoy. Let each person take a turn reading the story or pick one person to read. Reading is a good way to pass time and to learn about new places and things.

Another best way to do away with such kind of boredom or natural house trap is to play games on the internet. But you might be doing that very often. In times like these, try out something that you haven’t tried before. For example try logging into GoJiyo. Its 3D Virtual World where you can indulge in many cool activities along with your buddies, that too without actually stepping out of your house.

There are many events happening everyday wherein you can participate. The events range from Sky Diving to Bungee Jumping, from Roller Skating to Surfing and from Tight Rope Walking to Treasure Hunts. So even if it is raining outside, you can still hang out with your fellow GoJiyo friends and have fun.

Rainy days don’t have to be boring. Try some of these things and you’ll soon forget you can’t go outside and realize how much fun you’re having INSIDE!

Is this weather keeping you from skating and surfing? Now let GoJiyo give you the space you need to skate and surf hassle free. All these and more exciting activities await you in GoJiyo, so check it out.
