In fact, falue-added services is poised for exponential growth with more countries advancing towards 3G & 4G, enabling more services than ever over mobiles. The share of revenues from VAS is the revenue goldmine of the decade for telecom operators. Sure, there are more mobile subscribers than ever but with declining ARPUs, the mobile voice telephony business begins to look unattractive.

Value Chain analysis of the Mobile VAS business has uncovered a trend in which the constituents of the MVAS Value Chain, Content Developers, Content Aggregators, Platform Enablers, and Telecom Operators are growing into each other, adding wholesome value rather than satellite contributors.

“Currently, a host of applications are possible as part of Non-Voice offering for a telecom operator, with the most prominent being SMS (texting), MMS, person-to-person messaging to application-to-person and person-to-application messaging, mobile instant messaging, mobile gaming, mobile music, mobile TV, mobile navigation, mobile search, mobile marketing, mobile stocks and mobile payment among others.” – Research & Markets

Operators are facing keen competition and the margins from their “before now, taken for granted” voice businesses are declining. The value added services mentioned above are popular with individual and organizational users. It is the next wave for growth, revenue and a way to keep customers around.

Make plans now to participate in Mobile VAS World Summit 2010 scheduled in Singapore … September 29-30, 2010 at the Swissotel Merchant Court. Meet with Techistan CEO Rehan Allahwala and Asia Report Rani Wemel.

Listen to the complete broadcast of Omar Chohan sharing a real SMB success story of his company which is quadrupling its revenue and market in mid 2009 and predicted to continue through Q1 in 2010. SAC uses Regus, DIDX, and other smart virtual online tools that you should consider, too.

SAC at CTIA from Omar Chohan shares how its market share and geographic presence has increased in quality, quantity and revenue partly because of using DIDX for virtual phone numbers over SIP. Listeners of the original video broadcast on Viddler should stay tuned through the end of the interview to hear the exciting way that SAC is using Regus virtual offices with DIDX.net virtual phone number services.

SAC has also been able to reduce much of its overhead costs because of SIP trunking and international presence provided by its association with DIDX.net. SACS has grown in revenue over 30 million since the last time we interviewed Mr. Chohan on podcast in 2007. They initially chose the unified communications service of Cisco Call Manager for IM presence, voice, voicemail, call routing, auto attendant, and call gateway.

A problem with the Cisco solution is its inherent architecture, great for traditional markets but not emerging markets that do not have the bandwidth capacity to handle the overhead, etc. Next SAC moved to the Microsoft OCR2 platform, leaner and more cost-effective. Their entire back-end isvirtualized with virtual ware andCitrix and deployed using SIP.

Omar talks about the changes SAC has made in migration from the Cisco to the Microsoft solution in the area of mobile integration. SAC created a workaround from the Cisco’s MVS (mobile voice suite) to Microsoft’s Windows’ voice platform to integrate the company’s Blackberry cell phones to the IP PBX. We discuss the types of companies who are in the best position to use DIDX.net for buying international and USA phone numbers. Omar says small businesses should find out which telephony service providers are using DIDX and recommends contracting with them for PBX services because of the opportunity to have access to DIDs from over 60 countries.

I feel certain that the readers of this blog are the real telephony experts, early adopters, think tank types, not me, so that is why I am asking you to check this request from a school on the web group.

They are looking for a system where people can call in from a cell phone line in El Salvador. Their call would be answered by inputting a PIN #.

Then they could have an option to listen to voice mail prompts–questions or multiple choice, respond and playback their recording. If these files could be saved as .wav files that would be best.

A second option would be to be put through to someone else on the line to speak to directly, i.e., have a conversation.

Much of this technology is already used in call centers, except for the conference calling feature (being able to talk to one or more people at the same time). Again, conference calling technology exists and most likely uses VOIP.

They know that the readers of this blog, various companies offer all of these things and the DIDX lines (for El Salvador), right? Looking for your comments and directions! You can comment on this blog, on my Facebook page, email suzanne@didx.net, or call me.
