Wang said during the ongoing fifth International Mobile Internet Conference, which opened Monday in Beijing.

Wang said that the Chinese government will attach more importance to the protection of users’ personal information and their rightful interests and maintain a healthy environment for the development of the mobile Internet sector.

“The development speed of mobile Internet is far quicker than what we imagined. Mobile Internet is becoming a reality, and is deeply changing our habits and behaviors,” a statement on the firm’s website said.

The two-day meeting is sponsored by China Mobile, the world’s largest telecommunications firm by number of users.

The new social networking project by Google, has been in a limited field trial, and only invited guests have been allowed to participate in the project’s development.

Google+ moves from field trial to open beta, and anyone can join and connect with the people they care about.

Google+ was designed to make sharing on the web more like sharing in the real world. Recognizing that not all relationships are created equal, the Circles feature allows users to selectively share information with different groups of people.

Through a simple interface, users drag-and-drop their contacts into self-created Circles of friends, family, co-workers, etc. So just like in real-life, users can share one thing with their “college buddies,” another with their “parents,” and almost nothing with their “boss.”

Google+, additional features and enhancements were announced.

They include: Enhanced Search in Google+, Hangouts from your Android device, streamed Hangouts On Air and Hangouts with extras, so you can easily collaborate with others through video chat using Google Docs or a sketchpad.

Primary features of Google+ include: Hangouts, live group video chat with up to 10 people; Stream, the place to see updates from contacts in Circles; and Mobile, location sharing, group messaging and the option to immediately upload pictures taken on your Android device.

And according to Kent, M2M is continuing to surge despite the socioeconomic status.

According to Steve Hudson, vice president of business development at Omnilink, the industry looks drastically different today than it did even five years ago. Omnilink, a company that was originally founded in the area of track and trace, offers the most accurate and reliable location-based services (LBS) platform for powering location aware mobile devices and other solutions to track people and assets of value, according to company officials.

“The focus now is people don’t have to explain what M2M is; it’s about the focus and where the money is,” Hudson said.

However, there is still work to be done, according to Hudson, including creating longer sales cycles (the trend right now seems to be try before you buy) and honing developer’s perspective as there is still too much custom work to deliver complete solutions.

Expressing a similar sentiment, Adam Crossno, president and CEO at OnAsset Intelligence, said that what will happen in M2M will mirror what has happened with every smart device that consumers carry today.

There’s so much opportunity to use this technology, the sky is the limit,” he added. “It’s about understanding what are the pain points and how can you solve them.
