At technology shows, the Korean company has also demonstrated flexible screens just 0.3mm thick.

Its latest video demo shows off truly out there technology a tablet of the future that offers instant translation video and a level of 3D beyond anything yet available.

Samsung has said that it will start to ship ‘bendy screened’ gadgets in the first half of 2012 with the first ‘flexible’ gizmos on the market certain to be mobile phones.

Samsung’s transparent  flexible AMOLED screen isn’t as wacky as it seems.

The company has already promised that it will ship flexible AMOLED devices in 2012, starting with mobile phones.

This is where it all starts to get a little far-fetched the screen seems to be able to ‘throw’ a holographic 3D image so solid it looks like you could touch it. Glasses free 3D does exist .

The screen has the functions of a high end tablet computer  and appears to be able to translate instantly from French into Korean Language.

But while Samsung’s video demo might be ‘concept technology’.

Factories in the Far East are already working on ‘real’ versions flexible phones that will hit the market in early 2012.

Both Samsung and Nokia are working on the technology.

During a company results conference, investor relations chief Robert Yi said, ‘The flexible display, we are looking to introduce sometime in 2012, hopefully the earlier part.’

Yi said that the first devices to ship with flexible screens would be phones.

Other possible applications include ‘foldable’ iPad style tablets.

It’s not an out-there prediction, either.

Rival smartphone giant Nokia unveiled a basic prototype of the Nokia Kinectic a bendable smartphone at Nokia World.

Kinectic allowed users to bend the screen to control functions such as music and video.

Nokia refuses to say when its Kinectic smartphones will be on sale.

Earlier Samsung demonstrations have shown off OLED screens which can be folded over.

The company demonstrated ‘bendable’ AMOLED screens 4.5 inches across and just 0.3mm thick in January this year.

Another paper by Samsung scientists showed off an AMOLED screen with a section that could be folded over completely without cracking.

The Samsung Exynos 5250 also improves vastly in the graphics department.

It pledges to deliver four times the graphical punch of Cortex-A9 APUs.

Also adds support for devices with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels, as well as 3D stereoscopic screens.

Samsung has just unveiled its new Exynos 5250 system on chip arriving on mobile devices in the near future.

It’s the first to feature two Cortex-A15 coresrunning at 2GHz, and the chip is manufactured using 32nm process.

The best thing about the Samsung Exynos 5250? We could see it on a Samsung Galaxy S III or IV of sorts or the next Galaxy Tab as it’s already sampling and will ship in volume in the second quarter of 2012.

This, Samsung promises, will translate into double the performance of a current Cortex-A9 dual-core SoC clocked at 1.5GHz.

The social networking giant is in internal discussions over when to file its IPO papers with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

People familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.

The filing reportedly could occur as early as this year.

With shares making their debut on the market between April and June 2012.

The company is considering a $10 billion offering that would value the social network at more than $100 billion.

But Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has not made any final decisions regarding the size and date of the IPO, the Journal reports.

Facebook representatives declined to comment on the report.

Speculation about a Facebook IPO began in 2009 when it modified its stock structure to make a public filing easier.

However, not long after rumors began circulating that the company would go public this year, a Bloomberg report claimed Facebook wasn’t even considering the possibility of an IPO until 2012 at the earliest.

And just this month Business Insider suggested an IPO filing may hit the wires soon, possibly in January.

A clause in the 1934 Securities and Exchange Act requires private companies to release quarterly financial data when they have 500 or more owners a milestone Facebook was expected to pass this year.

In January, when Facebook and Goldman Sachs struck a deal to raise $500 million.

The social network said it “expected to pass 500 shareholders at some point in 2011, and therefore expects to start filing public financial reports no later than April 30, 2012.

A $100 billion valuation would make Facebook one of the most valuable tech companies.

Although far behind the tech leader Apple’s current valuation of $362 billion.

Facebook would trump tech veterans Cisco Systems’ $96 billion and Hewlett-Packard’s $52 billion.

The report comes as the tech IPO market has been experiencing a thaw of sorts.

Daily deals provider Groupon went public earlier this month and closed up 30 percent the first day (although its share price has since settled back to its IPO price).
