So where did Flowers and his group come up with the name GagaPhone? There is an Israeli dodgeball game, where people play one on one or in teams with walls composed of eliminated players. All active players cannot stay in one position for longer than three seconds. Sounds much like the IP communications of voice, video, data and virtual worlds. The company that can be flexible, practical and next generational in product and service lines and support tends to win.

Gagaphone started in 1992 selling pagers and beepers. Roger and his team realized times had changed. A device or communications service had to do more than one thing, more efficiently, flexibly, scalably, and if possible, innovatively. He mentions Netflix as an example.

“Netflix used to just kind of lease a viewing of a movie CD, ship it, and hope the user sent it back. Then do it again, but now Netflix is taking advantage of TV and online streaming. We’ve evolved from selling pagers to mobile phones to voice over IP technologies.”

Suzanne Bowen, of Techistan, who interviewed Roger Flowers, replied, “Even the way our economy has changed with online media venues available to users to control.
