Several IP communications companies such as RNK Communications, Vocati Communications and Jaymie Scotto & Associates are taking initiatives to collaborate with each other to help the Haiti people in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes. Listen to Jim of RNK explain the missing item needed.

Hello DIDX members and those in the IP communications industry. This is Jim Palmisano from RNK Communications. Many in the telecom community know who we are. We might have worked together or even competed against each other in some way. There’s something I need help with today. RNK Communications has been active in the Haiti Relief Efforts. We have been working with Crisis Commons and with CPAC (or CAPA… will get correct acronym spelling soon) medical network on some projects to help this people in Haiti as telecommunications go.

We find ourselves in need of one or two Haiti DIDs. This is why. There are a lot of hospitals in Haiti in which people are having issues communicating those needs. We need help from the DIDX community and telecoms and voip companies to take at least one Haiti DID to allow local Haiti hospitals, doctors, nurses, members of NGOs and governmental organizations to call that local Haiti phone number and call in those needs to a central support area here in the USA. Those needs would then be communicated with those groups outside Haiti who are able to fill those medical needs.

We’ve been able to set up a lot of things to help with that. The piece that we are missing is a Haiti phone number for Haiti medical entities to dial that can ring to central support area outside Haiti. If anybody out there can help us get even just 1 or 2 DIDs from Haiti, RNK is fine with taking care of the cost of moving that traffic back and forth. It’s the DID itself.

VoIP providers out there… those selling DIDS, local phone providers in the country of Haiti. These are the type companies who have access to Haiti DID phone numbers.
