Tim May is the CEO of Etone Connect. He’s a telephony historian, or at least, that is how many at Astricon 2008 defined him. The Techistan team met him in the exhibit area delivering sermons on the beginning of Internet Telephony. He was surrounded by crowds, curious to know more. He became interested in Internet telephony in the early 90s (same as many, such as our company vice president, who used it to help me teach English to middle schoolers). In 1997, EtoneConnect provided a VoIP calling card for retailers. They created a voiceover at 2 cents/minute and their first order was over $1 million.

EtoneConnect is a SIP trunking provider and wholesale telephony company now. Tim Mays remembers going to all the free Cisco training classes many years back and notes how much has changed. EtoneConnect asks the question: Why build and maintain a separate network for phones and data? Voice and data integration are one of EtoneConnect’s specialties. Their experts have participated in voice over IP and NT based telephone systems since 1996, virtually the beginning. The network they build is capable of carrying data traffic and also voice traffic. They offer their expertise and experience at affordable, competitive pricing.
